Credit Problems?
There is a lot of talk these days about checking your credit report, and knowing your credit score. There is a lot of concern about stolen identities and credit card fraud. With all of the discussion however, there is very little actual education about reading and interpreting your credit report and even less about what you can do to change or improve it!
I believe that many of the credit problems that people face are simply due to a lack of understanding how their credit score works. Once a your credit score has dropped, do you know what you can do to bring it back up? Sure, the most important part is to pay all of your bills on time from here on out, but did you realize that you can also adjust your score by transferring balances from one card or account to another? You can also adjust your score by opening a new account, or closing an existing account. Sometimes it requires deleting and incorrect account, or sometimes increasing the credit limit on a card. However, I do not recommend that you do any of this without first consulting a professional on the matter.
Another important aspect of credit that often don’t realize is how expensive it can be to have poor credit. Did you know that your credit score determines the interest rate you will pay on a home loan? Did you know that it also affects the interest rate you pay on credit cards? Did you know that auto insurance homeowners insurance and car loans are also affected by your credit score?
